February 15-18, 2018
The fourth annual March to Oak Flat is early spring 2018. This two-day march, some run it and others walk, is to save sacred grounds of the San Carlos Apache people. This march is to support the San Carlos Apache effort to protect the Oak Flat region from Resolution Copper, a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, a mining company headquartered in London.
See this truthout article for a little history on Oak Flat and water protectors. This year’s march continues to encourage folk to become aware of the fragility of the landscape in the face of business and government development.
